Here are some positive self-quarantine-related bits of news from our world.
This Saint Patrick’s Day, I’m pleased to tell you that The Dropkick Murphys will broadcast a show with the wonderfully puntastic title Streaming Up From Boston.
Code Orange performed at the empty Roxian in Pittsburgh via Twitch. Ben Gibbard livestreamed from his home studio. Global Citizen (a wonderful charity whose founder I once met for breakfast) teamed with Chris Martin of Coldplay on Instagram live.
Machine Gun Kelly and Bella Thorne joined Yungblud on YouTube.
The Harley version of The Cro-Mags live-streamed a day or two ago. I’ve seen posts from Lights and H2O about going live on Instagram with acoustic performances.
My old MTV News colleague/pal Gil Kaufman has a running list of live streams and virtual concerts which he’s constantly updating over at Billboard.com.
Bandcamp will waive its revenue share on Friday to help artists amid the coronavirus crisis. (I highly recommend grabbing the new album from FOTOCRIME.)
In roughly 24 hours, the non-profit organization Musically Fed turned 7,000 pounds of food intended for now cancelled events at Staples Center in Los Angeles into 24,000 meals for shelters and missions across the city. And their work continues.
The Recording Academy and MusiCares committed $2M to a coronavirus relief fund.
If you and/or the acts you work with are doing anything similar, let me know. I’m happy to include it in future dispatches as I self-quarantine in my OC bunker.

A correction: yesterday, I misread “Brooklyn Bowl” (a Las Vegas venue) as “Brooklyn, NY.” (Somebody should open up a “Las Vegas Bowl” in Brooklyn. Carry on that “Max’s Kansas City” tradition.) Anyway, here are the correct Thrice numbers.

Here’s the music video for my favorite House Of Pain song because I’m Irish American, it’s St. Patrick’s Day, and it’s my “e-newsletter.” ☘️☘️☘️
(I’m still the No. 1 House of Pain scholar on Genius.com.)
